Bless You

Hi All,

Today's card is one I made for my a friend who has a terrible sinus infection. I saw this Gina K stamp set and just had to have it. It is titled Under The Weather. It is just a precious set. If you get a chance, stop by Gina K Designs and check this set out. You won't be sorry. Anyway I stamped the image with Momento Black Ink and colored it with Copics. The tissue box was paper pieced (which is not one of my specialities) but I am happy with the way it came out.

The sentiment is from the same set and I added just one small flower for a bright spot. I hope my friend gets a kick out of this card and it brings a smile to her face.

Two Challenges Again- WOW

Good Thursday Morning to all of you. I have managed to complete two challenges this morning. Stars and Stamps Christmas Card Challenge and Crazy for Cocoa and Friends Challenge.

For the Crazy for Cocoa challenge I chose to go with a Bethany digital image. I just think this one is so cute for a hero to send home. Carol challenged us to use die cuts or punches. I guess I covered that seeing as how I used two different Nestabilities and also a SU scallop punch. For that scallop punched piece I used a 1 inch piece of dp and then punched on both sides, punching the second side just slightly off center for the first side.

For my Christmas card I wish I could say I designed this one but I did not. The praise needs to go to my friend, Lucy, who actually made this card last year. I love the papers and the sentiment so much that I was hoping one of our heros would love it also. Thank You Lucy. It is totally a SU card: Ribbon, papers and sentiment.

A Birthday Mouse

Hi All,
Another start to another week. Whew this year is flying by. My card today is a birthday card I made for my daughter. She is not a "flower" type person, so I went with a House Mouse stamp. I just love all the House Mouse stamps. This is one I got recently and it is titled Full Of Hot Air. I colored it with Copic markers and double matted it with rectangle Nestablities. I cut the ends off of the rectangle just to make it different. The designer paper is Basic Grey and the card stocks are from SU. Gotta run but I wish you all a great week. See you tomorrow.

S & S Sketch Challenge #88

Good Morning All,

Today's post is for the Sketch challenge over at Operation Write Home's Stars and Stamps Blog. I'm in a Christmas mode this morning and I don't know why. It is a beautiful summer - like day here today. This card went together in just a few minutes, which is good because I also have a couple of birthday cards to make before the afternoon is over. My papers and card stock are all from Stampin Up. The sentiment is also from SU. It has been retired for years but I love the font so I use it quite often. I embossed the white piece of card stock with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dot embossing folder and I used a gold pen to edge the white and red pieces. Added a couple of rhinestones. I cannot seem to get this one to photograph correctly so they don't even look like rhinestones. (sorry) Looking forward to seeing other challenge cards today. Enjoy your day and I hope to see you tomorrow.

C4C16 Challenge - Wow-2 Challenges In One Day

Hi Again,

I'm quite proud of myself this morning. I've managed to get two cards done in three hours. That's big for me.

This post is for the Crazy for Coca Challenge. Carol challenged us to make a card using the colors grey, white and teal (or blue). This is what I came up with. This image is titled FlowerJar and it was a freebee from Sweet N Sassy Stamps.

As you can see I colored the image with teal, grey and green Copic markers. I used oval and rectangle Nestabilities. I used the Tim Holtz brick wall embossing folder and my card base is Bacis Grey card stock from SU. The sentiment is from SU's Fancy Flexable Phrases. I think that might be it for me today. Got to rest the shoulders. See you again tomorrow. Thank you again for stopping by. Enjoy your day.

S & S Mid Week Throw Down

Good Thursday Morning,
Today my post is for the Midweek Throwdown over at Operation Write Home's Stars & Stamps Blog. We were challenged this week to make a card with something sweet on it. I don't have too many images containing sweets, but to me a Candy Cane is very sweet and,of course, Rhubarb is the sweetest thing around so I think this card will qualify.
My Candy Cane Rhubarb image is from Sweet N Sassy Stamps. They have a precious line of stamp and images that I use quite often. If you get a chance please stop over there and check them out. You'll be very happy you did. I colored Rhubard with copics and the ribbon with a Spica pen to give it some sparkle without the use of glitter (which is a big No No for OWH cards). I can't tell you where the sentiment is from as I've had it for years and there is not a name on it. Sorry. I sponged the image while it was still in the Nestabilities die and then I cut out the TopNote from SU. The papers are retired from SU. I loved that set so I purchased extra packs so they would laste me a few years. Now I'm hungry and getting ready to make more Holiday cards, so I'm going to eat and then back to make more cards. Have yourselves a terrific day and thanks for spending part of it with me. See you tomorrow.

Hello - Hello

Hi All,
Today I am posting a card I made using one of Operation Write Home's Sketches from a few weeks back. If you have not been on OWH's blog lately please take a minute to do so. They are a wonderful organization that sends hand made cards over to deployed military personnel so that they can send these cards back to their loved ones stateside. They don't necessarily have a PX or other stores around to purchase cards from so OWH makes it possible for our heroes to keep in touch with their families though cards of all types. It is so hard on the family members to have their loved ones away from home for so long. A simple "hello" card is a nice gift to receive in the mail. If you have any extra cards you've made hanging around, or you have a few minutes here and there, maybe you could sit down and make a couple of cards for our heroes. Please think about it.
Anyway I ran three pieces of card stock through the Big Shot using different types of embossing folders. The forth square is a piece of Rice Paper that I purchased at a local Art Supply Store near me. I just popped on a flower and brad and I was done. The sentiment is actually a Rub-On. I'm happy with this card and I just hope the recipient with be also. Have a great day. I'll see you tomorrow.

So Unlike Me

Today's post is a card I made that took me way out of my comfort zone. The image is a terrific digital image from Tiffany Doodles. I say it took me out of my comfort zone because of the way I just flicked the olive green copic marker away from and around the image. I don't even know how I thought to do that, but once I started it I began realize that it looked strange and yet I was starting to like the outcome. So here it my strange card, I guess you will have to think of it what you will. Maybe this means I'm getting strange (or should I say stranger) in my older years. I just hope some hero's loved one will be happy to receive a card with military tags that say "Love You" on them no matter how the rest of the card looks. Have a great day. Hope to see you again tomorrow.

Thank You Kitty

A few weeks ago my daughter got a new little kitty, named Neely, and just last weekend she also took care of our two little babies, Molly & Daisey while we were away. I thought it only polite that Molly & Daisey send little Neely a thank you card for letting them horn in on his time in his new house with his new parents. The image is from the Gina K Designs set titled Purr-fectly Delightful. I just love that set. I did a little coloring of him and the cup with some copics and cut him out and matted with scalloped and plain square Nestabilities. The card base is Pear Pizzazz from SU and I embossed vertical lines using my Score Buddy. I actually had some of the punched out zig zags on my work desk at the time and I tried laying a piece on the card and liked the look so I went with it. The sentiment is from SU. It was very kind of you to take a minute out fo your day to spend here and I appreciate it very much.

S & S Sketch Challenge #87

Hello Everyone,

I am finally getting back to card making and posting. Today over at Stars & Stamps Blog our challenge was to follow the above sketch. I flipped the sketch to make it work better for me. My sentiment pieces are from a retired SU set titled Absolutely Fabulous. The butterflies are from a MS stamp set and colored with Copic Markers. I made the background paper using alcohol inks and I added little rhinestones to each block for some added little punch. I had fun with this sketch. It will, of course, go into my next box of cards going to Operation Write Home which I plan on shipping out tomorrow. I'm ashamed to say that I haven't sent cards out to them in over two months, but I plan on getting myself into gear starting today. I already have some ideas floating around in my little head for my next box, which will probably be mostly holiday cards. Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by here today. See you soon.

Hello

Good Wednesday Morning:
I wanted to make a simple Hello card for someone, so here is what I came up with. The designer paper is from DCWV and the green strip I made but just stamping an old, old SU stamp in gold ink and dotting the edges with a gold pen. The sentiment stamp is one of my "Go To" Stamps from Hero Art. I also dotted that piece and added some orange gems . That'll have to do it for me today.

Thanksgiving Greetings

Hi Everyone,

We had no power for 5 days and then spent the past 3 days cleaning up the yard after Irene. What a long process when you have to keep stopping to take a break because of aches and pains. Anyway here is another Thanksgiving card I did a while ago. The image is from a stamp I've had for years and can no long read the name of the stamp company on it, sorry. I used Very Vanilla, Peach Parfait, and Handsome Hunter card stock, all from SU. I used my Krylon gold pen around the edges of the card base. I also used a background stamp from SU and a White Gel Pen for the stitching effect.

I hope you all enjoyed your Holiday weekend. It was beautiful weather here, so I'm happy for that. See you soon.
