Completely Christmas

Hi Everyone,  I'm here to share a card I made for this week's Completely Christmas Challenge, which is to add Texture.   Both my image and the sentiment are from a set titled "Ornamental (Comtempo) by DeeDee Anderson found here.  I love this set.  These ornaments are so very pretty and I liked using  non-traditional colors for a change.
I simply printed out the pre-colored image and sentiment on one sheet of paper and stamped a tree branch with a very old stamp. So old that I don't know who it is by because I removed it from it's wooden base and forgot to make a notation as to the manufacturer.  (sorry) I colored the branch with two different colored SU! markers before stamping. After I cut a SB Oval out of the center of my card stock I embossed it with a Darice folder on SU!  Rich Razzleberry card stock.  I added a green gem to the center of the ornament and a few scattered pearl gems in the center of some of the snowflakes.  The gems are from Pizzazz Aplenty.  That was a nice easy card to make.  Thanks a bunch for your visit.  Hope to see you again soon.

A Retirement Card

Happy Friday - I do hope you are all doing OK.  I am here to share a card with you that I made for a friend of mine that is retiring in March.  I actually worked with her for quite a few years before I retired myself last year.
The image is from Gina K and it its titled Dogwood.  I colored it with Copics and added some black Chunky Glitter to the flower centers. It is cut out with SB Oval and Scalloped Oval dies.  The punch is from SU! and I was in a bit of a hurry when I made it.  I was hoping to line up the scallops but I like the way it came out better this way. Let's hope I can duplicate that look in the future.  The card base is SU! Whisper White and the pattern paper is by Bo Bunny.  I rounded the bottom corners and just added a three little gems from Pizzazz APlenty and I was done.   Thanks for your visit and I wish you all a good weekend.

Lotus Blossom

Happy Thursday everyone.  Well we had three inches of snow yesterday and just about one inch earlier today.  Yesterday's snowfall brought us over the 100 inch mark in the area.  So I'm hoping that if I continue to make summer type cards, the snow will start to melt away.  I don't know if  Mother Nature feels the same way I do, but I'll keep trying anyway.    I see that my friends in the south are having bad weather also.  I do hope you all warm up soon and stay safe.
I finally decided to try making a card using SU! Lotus Blossom set.  I've had the set for a few weeks now, but this set intimidated me a little bit so I kept putting off using it.  I was quite surprised as it was really easy to work with.   I tried several flowers in different colors but, so far, I only finished one card.  I needed a special card for a friend but opted to not put a sentiment on the front of the card.  Here is what I came up with.
I was kind of pleased with how it turned out.  This image is made using three different stamps to achieve the dimension on the flower and then the stem is separate.  I just used two different colors but on the one of the layers I stamped off to get a little bit lighter color.  The papers are from my stash and the mats are SU! Basic Black.  That will do it for me today, I wish you all a great evening.  Thanks a bunch for visiting.

Holiday Happiness

I'm trying to get a head start on my Christmas cards so here is the first one I've made.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can continue to make these on a regular basis so I don't get so far behind like I did last year that I end up sending out store bought cards.  Just a warning that you may be seeing Holiday cards from me often.
This darling little bear is a Di's Digi image and I colored it with Copics. I used Flower Soft on the brim of his hat and the ball at the end of his little hat.   I dotted around the circles on both the image and sentiment.  I used SB dies  and the paper is from a gift of papers I received from a blogger friend.
Thanks a bunch for your visit and I'm wishing you all a great day.

OWH February Mid Month - Cards For Kids

Happy Saturday.  Hope you are all having an nice weekend so far.  We had a very, very cold morning but nice and sunny.  A little while ago our sun disappeared and we are clouding up getting ready for more snow.
So I have a card to share with you that I whipped up for OWH's Mid Month Throwdown.  They are looking for cards for kids so I remembered I had this stamp from Recollections and dug it out.

I colored it with Copics and cut it out with square and scalloped SB dies.  The sentiment is by Hero Arts and that was cut out with a SU! die.  The paper is retired SU! as are the corner treatments.  I added a couple of stickers and called it a day.  Thanks a bunch for your visit and hope the rest of your weekend goes smoothly.  See you again soon.

You Mean The World To Me

Good Morning, I'm here today with a card I made to go into my next OWH box.  I thought this looked like a good guy card to me.   I try to make my guy cards just as CAS as I can get.  I always judge by Hubby who does not like all the fluff and stuff.

This is about as quick a card as you can make.  I just dug into my older papers, found a piece cut it to size and matted it with some black card stock.  I stamped the sentiment, which is an older one by Katie & Co., sponged around the edges and then cut it out with SB square and Postage Stamp dies.  I added a thin strip of black card stock instead of ribbon and I was done.  Thanks for taking a peek into my little corner of the world. It's always nice to have company.  Wishing you all a fantastic day.

Gifts Of Spring

.  .  .  That is what I have for you today, Gifts Of Spring. This is one of Deedee Anderson's newest sets in her store. I just think this is precious.
I used a pre-colored image, the sentiment and the digital paper all from this one set. Talk about making it easy to put a card together.  A SB die was used to cut out the image and sentiment.  I ran a black mulit-liner pen around the inside of the die before cutting it out.  I added a tiny little twine bow and used a corner punch of both  of the Pacific Blue mats and I was done.  Well that will do it for me today.  Thanks for stopping by.  See you again soon.

Easter Blessings

Good Tuesday Morning All.  I am sitting in my craft room looking out the window at the snow continuing to fall.  It is very pretty even though it has wreaked havoc in our little corner of the world.
So I wanted to let you know that Deedee Anderson has released three new sets in her store this week.  They are all fabulous.  If you get a minute it might be a good idea for you to hop on over there to check them out.  The card I'm sharing today is from the "Easter Lilies" set which has two beautiful pre-colored images and three sentiments.  I used both the sentiment and image from this one set.
I kept this card completely CAS to be able to keep the focus on this gorgeous vase of lilies.  I simply added some score lines and a very small strip of pattern paper.  The mat is Soft Sky from SU!. I really like a good image that allows you to make up a card in just five minutes, but it looks like it took you hours to make.  Well thanks for popping in for a visit and I wish you all a fun day.

Hearts and Flowers

I tried very hard to make a card that would fit the sketch over at Stars and Stamps this week, but I just could not do it.  Everyone else seems to get their cards to look so very nice, but I just could not come up with anything that satisfied me so I went a whole different route.  Obviously this will not be entered into that challenge, but I'm OK with how it ended up and it is just another card that can go into my next OWH box.  I decided not to put a sentiment on the card front.

The flower, circles and heart punches are all from SU! The baby hearts are negatives from a MS punch.  I stamped the Very Vanilla paper with a SU! (french script) background stamp and the embossed it with the Swiss dot folder.  The pink paper is the reverse side of the green paper and is also retired from SU!.  That will do it for me with card making for today.

Little story for you and a thought for any of you in our area that have had a lot of snow.  Our washer and dryer is on the ground level of our house and are near a window.  I noticed that by the end of yesterday's snowfall I could not see out of the window at all anymore and when I mentioned that to Hubby this morning it dawned on him that that meant the dryer vent was blocked by snow.  Needless to say we (mostly Hubby) had to spend some time outside this afternoon digging out the dryer vent.  In order to do that he had to make a path from our little courtyard into the house which is about 5 feet in and the snow is over 4 feet high in that area.  Poor Hubby was out there for over 1 1/2 hours and then his back started to give out so he came inside. It was to the point that you had to throw the snow way over your head.    I wanted to help so, against his wishes,  I went out  but could only make it for about 20 minutes when I started with my Exercised Induced Asthma  and was whizzing so hard I had to quit.  Hubby will be heading back out there again in a while to finish the job.  The vent is not down that low, but it is just that the snow is up that high.   Fun in the North East.  Thanks for stopping by again today and I wish you a good evening.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy Monday, hope you all had a nice weekend.  Our weekend was snowy and bitterly cold so we just stayed in and I crafted most of the time.  It continues to be bitterly cold today and will be for the next 5 days so I do see a lot of crafting in my near future.
I wanted to share this card I made for hubby for St. Patty's day.
This little cutie is from Di's Digi Stamps and I colored him with Copics. He is cut out with a SB rectangular die.  The background is SU! Very Vanilla paper and I stamped it with an older SU! background stamp.  I think this one is called "Weathered" and I very much like the look you get with it.  The mats are SU! Garden Green and that is about all there is to this one.  Wishing you are a warm, fuzzy day and thanks for taking the time for a visit.

Thinking Of You

I thought I'd share a card with you that came about by using left over pieces that I had on hand.   I had used a Cherry Lynn Designs die on a couple of different papers to make a card a while back and on some of them I just used the little negative pieces so I was left with these two main parts of the dies.  I placed one on top of the other slightly turned and I liked the look so that was my starting point for this card.
Then I remembered that last year I purchased the SU! Secret Garden stamp and die set and had never used them so I dug them out and this card started to come to life.  The papers are all SU retired.  The sentiment is by Hero Arts and I embossed the main panel with the Swiss Dot embossing folder.  I added a few Stickles in the center of the flower.
We are in the middle of another snow storm that started last night and will go until this afternoon.  The snow is not too bad (so far only 5 inches) but we have high winds so I'm trying to get some crafting done this morning in the event we lose power.   Thanks for your visit and I hope to see you again soon.
Wishing you all a nice Sunday.

No Grilling This Week

Hello,    I  just thought I'd pop in today with some pictures I took of the snow out our back door yesterday.   The snow keeps coming, packing down and then more comes.  We actually have about 40 inches right now on the top of the little shed and the grill.  (got more last night after  I took these pictures.

We are in southern Massachusetts and yesterday our Governor informed us that crews have removed enough snow from Boston streets, alone,  to fill Gillette Stadium 90 times.   That's is a lot of snow.    So far most of the snow we have received has been rather light so not many power outages at all, but they are calling for a nor-easter this coming Thursday night into Friday with maybe another 8-10 inches of snow and yet another storm for Sunday night into Monday.  Fun, fun, fun.  It just means more indoor fun for us.  I am so glad Hubby has retired from the Electric Company or else I would have not seen him at all for these past two weeks.  For years he was gone during all these types of storms helping to put power back on for others, now he is home here with me which I am so very happy for.
This last picture is a shot looking down on the street and the red dot that you can see on the left is the red flag sticking up on our mail box. The brown mark is the mail box post.  The mailbox itself is not in sight at all.  There was not any mail delivery anyway yesterday.

There you have it, a look out our doors.  Thanks for taking a peek into our little world and I hope to see you again soon.

A Valentine for Hubby

I was wide awake this morning at 4AM so I decided to sneak into my craft room and whip up a Valentine card for Hubby before he got up and came into the room to see what I was doing.  I was just finishing it up when he came in.  Whew! that was a close call, he almost saw it.

This precious image is by Stamp Fairy and I colored it with Copics.  The sentiment is by SU! 2007 an Oldie but a Goodie, I think anyway.  I used SU!'s Sky Blue card stock and embossed it with a Darice folder and the designer paper is also by SU! long time retired.  With all of my family Valentine's Day cards this year I decided to go with non-traditional colors just for a change.  I'm hoping Hubby gets a kick out of this cute couple.  That will do it for me today.  I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit.  It's another snow day here in New England and they say it will continue until the wee hours of tomorrow.  Enjoy your day.

Hello From The High Seas.

Hello everyone, Happy Sunday morning to you.  We have started with our newest snow storm early this morning.  So I guess it will be another crafty day for me.  I started to clear off my craft table and I still had some items left on there from a couple of precious cards so I thought I might as well use these before I put them back away.  This is a card I'll be sending to Cards For Hospitalized Kids and I used a darling image from Deedee Anderson, titled Set Sail.  If all this snow we have here now were to melt quickly our house would be out there on the high seas along with Daniel.
I had this pre-colored image of Daniel The Sailor sitting on my desk and then noticed I still had my Washi Tape along with my Rub-Ons out so I put everything together to come up with this card.  I decided to emboss the back panel to go along with the chevron tape.  I could not decide which side I liked better but I finally went with the debossed side of the paper just for a change.  I added three little stickers for for the fun of it.  In looking at this now I think I may add a bit of sky work before I send it out.  Wishing you a great day and thanks for your visit.

February ODBD Challenge

Happy Saturday to you all.  We are sitting waiting for our next snow storm which should begin late tonight/early tomorrow and last until Monday night or Tuesday morning.  We are right on the divided line for amounts of snow so we could get anywhere from 4-15 inches of snow.  We'll just sit back and see what we get.  We have plenty of wood, food and crafting supplies, so it will be fine no matter what we get.  I'm sharing a card I made for the ODBD February Challenge for Operation Write Home.   This month they would like to see cards with animals on them.  This image one of  Sleikje's freebees and I've had it a couple of years.  I just think it is cite as anything.
I have used two different Washi tapes along the side and embossed the rest of the card stock with the Swiss Dot folder.  I colored the image with Copic markers and cut it out with a SB die.  I colored a piece of white card stock  with a Copic marker to get it as close to the green on the tape and matted my image with that.  The sentiment is by SU!  Thanks a bunch for your visit. I always appreciate it.

CSSC #1

I'm here today with some nice news.  Leslie Hanna from The Crooked Stamper has decided to start a  Challenge Blog titled Crooked Stamper Sketch Challenge and I'm happy to participate in it.  Her first sketch is quite nice and I had fun making a card with it.  I thought this would make a nice guy card for Operation Write Home.

I stamp my image in VersaMark and then embossed it with Detail White powder.  My next step was to sponge Tumble Glass Distress  Ink over the embossed image.  I stamp my sentiment in black ink to make it stand out.  I just added three silver stickers.  I went with stickers rather than brads to help keep it nice and flat for mailing.  The designer paper is by SU!, long time retired.   That will do it for me, but I would like to thank you for stopping by.

Friends Forever

Hi All,  Deedee's  February Digi Of The Month Challenge starts today.  You can find the particulars here.  These guys are so much fun to work with, I just know you'll have fun with them.  I know I did.
Here is my first card I'm making using this set.

Both the pre-colored image and the sentiment are from the same "Friends Forever" set.
If you participated in last month's challenge, you should have already received this set in your email. (If you participated but didn't receive the set, please contact us at deedeesdigis@gmail.com -- sometimes things do go wrong with email). If you did not participate in last month's challenge, you can still purchase this set for just $1.25 this month at our shop. You can find it HERE if you are a resident of the European Union, or find it HERE if you are not a resident of the EU.
I used papers from my stash and the SB Postage dies as well as my curvy paper cutter.  I also added some cute little gems from Pizzazz APlenty.
This picture is very blurry and I can't seem to get it to look any better, but I promise this card is much sharper in real life.  Wishing you all a great evening and thanks for your visit.

W2SB Challenge #14

Oh - two postings in one day.  I'm proud of my self.  LOL  I'd like to show you a card I made for one of my favorite challenges.  Words 2 Scrap By.  This month  the girls have challenged up to "Do Something Different".  Well I did just that.

Just about everything on this card is different from my usual cards.  First I dug way back in my closet and got out an older SU! stamp, some water color paper and my SU! Water Color Crayons. Dusted everything off and started by stamping the image, then water colored it with crayons, which I have not done in years.  I then I went into my scrapbook "stuff" and pulled out some Making Memories Rub-Ons.  How long has it been since any of you used your rub-ons?  I'm not sure if I have ever used a rub-on on a card.  Then I added three flowers and a heart for which I sponged the edges of them, not something I do very often either. I don't know why because I love the effect of something sponged.  I usually sponge a frame or die, but not individual embellishments.   Finally I used a ribbon and bow which, again, is something I don't  turn to very often when making cards.   So, I think I've met the challenge this month.  I would like to thank you for popping in to see my "Something Different" card.  I'm off to have some good "bad" food because it is Super Bowl Sunday, which seems like a good reason to go all out in the food department.    I always feel better when I have an excuse for eating bad things.  LOL  Enjoy your evening.
