OWH Sketch #252

Happy Monday Morning to you all.  I'm here today with the sketch challenge over at Operation Write Home.  This was a nice sketch to work with. Here is my take on it.

I don't know why but my color is off on this picture.  The card base is Very Vanilla by SU! and yet it has a pink tone to it.  No pink here at all, trust me.  I think I'll call this my stash card because just about everything was from my stash: the paper, the flower the blue card stock (don't know who it was by-sorry) and I even had the left over ric rac punched pieces in my stash.  I printed the sentiment from the Gina K set titled "Vertical Sentiments".  I just love that set.  Now that I look at it on the screen I think I may add three more tiny pearls with the sentiment (top middle bottom) what do you think?   Thanks for popping in today.  I always appreciate the company.  Wishing you a good week.

CSSC #3

I'm here to share a card I made for Crooked Stamper Sketch Challenge #3.  I liked this sketch a lot and Leslie's challenges are always fun.   Sometimes I get carried away with a sketch and go off into another direction but this time I tried very hard to stick to the sketch.

The image is a stamp from Inkadinkado that I've had probably 3 years now and this is the first time I've inked it up.   I know that there is no flower that looks like this one know to man, but I was working outside earlier and maybe I got too much sun so I decided to make my flower three different colors.  I'm actually OK with how it looks.  The sentiment is by Hero Arts and is punched out with two  SU! punches.  The paper is also SU! (retired).  I used Very Vanilla and Chocolate Chip card stock.  I think I'll be using this sketch again in the near future.  Why not hop on over to The Crooked Stamper and join in on the fun.  I know Leslie would like to see what you come up with for this sketch.  Thanks for taking a peek here and I'm wishing you a nice Sunday evening.

W2SB #16 & SOS

W2SB and Shopping Our Stash are doing a combined challenge this week.  The theme  is "The Earth Has Music" the sights and sounds of spring.  I went with the "sights" of spring being beautiful flowers.  I have another friend that is retiring soon so I made her this card last night.  This card came about because I saw this paper in my stack of trusty 2007 Scrap Book Calendar papers.  To me this soft, sweet flowered paper seemed just right for these two challenges and I thought my friend would like this paper also.  I knew immediately what I wanted to do with it and that doesn't happen that often so when it does I have to act right away.

I thought this paper was so pretty so I matched it up with SU's Wild Wasabi Card Stock.  First I matted it both inside and out and then I dug out my (all too neglected) SB Scalloped Edgeabilities to add a fancy strip along the bottom. The sentiment, by Hero Arts, was stamped with Versa-mark and embossed with black powder to help it stand out against the printed paper.   After rounding all the top corners I added the sequins as a final touch.  The inside is stamped "Let the relaxation begin - Happy Retirement" which is a retired SU set.  I'm kind of pleased at how it turned out and I hope my friend will like it also.  I know, for sure, she will enjoy her retirement and we will be able to have more lunch dates now.
Don't forget to stop by both W2SB and Shopping Our Stash this week and join in on the fun.
Thanks for taking a peek into my little corner of the world and I wish you all a fabulous Wednesday.

A Blooming Birthday

I needed a birthday card for tomorrow and I love Deedee's new Blooming Blessings set so much that I went ahead and used one of the images from that set.  This makes 5 cards I've made in the past week using images from this set.

I am not even sure what type of flowers these are or if there is a certain color I should be using, but I happen to think they look very nice in blue.  They are colored with Copics and cut out with SB Square dies.  It does not seem to show but I added Glossy Accents for the flower centers.  The Sentiment is by CC Rubber Stamp Company.  I embossed the back panel with  a Swiss Dot folder. The blue mats look like two different shades in the picture but they are the same.  I colored them both with the B01 Copic marker. That will do it for me for today, but I do hope you are having a wonderful day.  It's kind of damp and raw and it scheduled to rain for the next three days.  Hey it's not freezing cold, so no complaints from me.  Thanks for stopping in for a visit.

April ODBD

I hope you all had a nice weekend.  I'm here to start this week off with a card for this month's challenge over at Operation Write Home.  This card is for the ODBD challenge  and they asked for masculine cards for this month.  If we get 50 cards made and posted ODBD will pay for the postage for two boxes of card heading over to our heroes.  Here is my card.

All the men in my life are the plain and simple, no fuss/muss, type men so that is the style I always use when making masculine cards for OWH. The paper is retired SU! The sentiment and heart are by Hero Arts and I stamped them in Versa-mark and then white embossed them.  There was a piece of twine sitting on my desk so I decided to tie that around the card.  Done!!!Thanks a bunch for your visit and I wish you a wonderful week. See ya soon.

A Little Thank You Bag

Happy Wednesday Afternoon.  Boy the week is half gone by already and I don't even know what I've done.  Anyway while we were in Savannagh, Ga. I went to this cute little store called The Salt Table that has hundreds of different types of salts and some sugars for sale.  I picked up some for myself and a friend of our that kept an eye on our house for us while we were gone.  So yesterday a made up this bag to put it all in.  I had some little bags in the attic but I felt like I wanted to make one for her.  So here it is.
I used a store bought white paper bag and covered it with some paper that was in my stash.  Then I punched a SU! Large Oval out of the bag for the handle.  Next I  took a store bought tag, covered the bottom half with the same paper, a strip of brown card stock and stamped this cute sentiment by SU! along with some SU ribbon.  I sponged the edges of the tag with some Rusty Hinge Distress Ink and added a couple of silver candi dots and was done.  I don't usually do too many "projects" but I was pleased with the way it turned out.  Thanks so much for paying a visit and I wish you all a good evening.
