W2CB #36

"Winter Is The Time For Comfort" Those are the words for this month's challenge over at Words 2 Craft By.  When I saw this I immediately thought of the set by SNSS and the little cup of hot cocoa.
I haven't played in any challenges for many months and I apologize for that and I will try to get back on track.

I started by sponging an area of blue on my main panel then paper pieced the image which was colored with Copics on top of the blue.  They are hard to see but there are several white embossed snowflakes surrounding the image and then the two larger blue ones in the corners.  I sponged the white panel with Lavender Lace ink.    The purple layer is some light and dark squared paper I've had for years and  I sponged the edges with Perfect Plum.  The last layer is Tempting Turquoise.  The sentiment is from the same SNSS set titled Snowman Soup.
It is getting quite cold here in our neck of the woods and we may get snow by morning so this challenge and card seemed quite appropriate.  Thanks for stopping in for a visit, I really like the company and I wish you all a good weekend and Happy, Healthy New Year.

Christmas Thank You

Hello Everyone,  I know today's card looks like it should be an Easter card but it is not.   My granddaughter gave me this stamp as a Christmas gift. Every Christmas she gives me a House Mouse stamp so I always use the stamp she gives me to make her thank you card.
I colored it with Copics and cut it out with SB A2 Rectangle dies.  The paper is long time retired from SU! and I used plain black mats.  The sentiment is by Inkadinkado, and oldie but a goodie.
I'm not sure when I'll get back on here so I'd like to wish you all a very Happy and Safe New Year. Thanks so much for stopping by for a visit.

Christmas Card

Hi Everyone,  My computer crashed a while ago which is one of the reasons why I've been MIA.  The other reason was because I was feverishly making cards for the Caring Hearts Drive ( got a very late start) and felt it more  important to make them than to post them.  This is an experimental posting.  I am now on windows 10 and I am not very computer literate so this is taking me some time to figure out what I'm doing and how to do things.    I did a production run of this card  and they are already on there way  and I'm trying my first run with this computer.

I could not get a good picture of it because I used Shimmer Spritz on the front and it doesn't photograph well at all, at least not for me.  We all know photography is not my thing.    The stamps are very old ones.  The holly is from Outlines and I honestly don't know who made the sentiment stamp because I removed it from the wooden base and forgot to mark it.  I colored the sentiment stamp with SU! markers before stamping and I colored the holly with Copics.   I would like to wish  all of you who celebrate Thanksgiving a very Happy, Healthy one.  Thanks so much for popping in to say hello.

Black and Silver Christmas Card

I need to make Thanksgiving cards but in going through my stash I found this beautiful pattern paper (it is more like cloth) and I immediately knew I had to jump ahead to Christmas for a minute.  I have a friend that only like black, brown, silver and gold colors so as soon as I came across this paper I went ahead and made her Christmas card.    It is unconventional, I know, but she will love it just because of the colors, at least I hope so.
I used SU! silver paper to back up the IO die cut sentiment along with my corner punch and I was done.   Now that I'm looking at it here I am wondering if I should add some Shimmer Spritz to the sentiment panel.  What do you all think?  I would appreciate any suggestions.  That's all I have for today.  Time to get to making Thanksgiving Day cards. Not too much time to waste.  Wishing you all a great day.

It's All About The Paper

Hello Everyone.  I am among the living once again.  I apologize if I have not visited your blogs as often as I should have.  I took quite a long break from card making and blogging to make a lot of scarves and hats to donate.  So now I hope to turn my attention back to card making again for a while. I have finished up a few in this past week so I thought I'd share a couple with you.  This card is for a very special couple that do a lot of travel both near and far. Their next few trips will be to  Cape Cod, Massachusetts and Maine where there are several fantastic lighthouses so I remembered this beautiful paper, dug it out and got to work.
I have to be honest I don't even know who this paper is by but I loved it the minute I saw it and have been hoarding it for years.  I wanted the paper to be center stage so I just cut it with my curly cutter and added a Hero Arts sentiment, a couple of punched hearts, the little gem stones and I was done.
I do hope to get better about blogging and visiting so please bear with me for a while.  Wishing you all a terrific day and week ahead.

Yellow Birthday

Well it is very hot today so I decided to stay inside and play in my craft room a bit.  I have a couple of birthdays comping up in August so here is one of the cards I made today.
As usual my photography could use some help but here is the card.  I used two of SU!'s sets.  The flower from Lotus Blossom and the sentiment from Well Scripted.  The paper was in my stash as was the ribbon.  Kind of simple but I think and hope the recipient will like it.  Wishing you all a great evening and if you are in a "hot" zone please stay cool and be careful.  We may be in for some thunderstorms tomorrow evening and with this heat they may be duzzies.  Thanks for taking a peak into my little corner of the world.  Right now I'm having trouble getting full use of Blogger so as soon as I get it I'll be around to see everyone.

Aged Birthday Card-LOL

I hope you all had a wonderful July 4th.  It was a nice quiet day and had dinner with some wonderful friends.  Who could ask for more?  We have another dear friend that will be celebrating a birthday in a few days and he is an antique car and truck lover so I thought this was quite appropriate.

I used a pre-colored image by Doodle Pantry and also one of their sentiments which is just perfect for the recipient of this card.  He has a wonderful sense of humor and will get a big kick out of it.  The paper is retired from SU! and the image was cut out with a SB rectangle die and then I made a frame from the same set.  The paper is SU!'s Garden Green.  The Happy Birthday is a digi from Deedee Anderson, which unfortunately closed now.  I pierced the upper right corner of the image panel and even though the two panels are separate I also did the same in the bottom left of the lower panel. I wish you all a great week ahead and thank you so much for stopping by.

Snowmen Thank You

I'm back with a thank you card I just made.  I told you that I had helped move a friend of mine last week.  Well one time this past winter when I was in her house she has this adorable snowmen door draft dodger and I commented on it when I was there.  I also came home and looked all over the internet and could not find one anywhere.  Last week while we were moving  her she gave that precious draft dodger to me so there was nothing left to do but to make a snowmen thank you card.
I didn't color it as good as I think I could or should have so I put a little more "snow" on it to help hide a couple of boo-boos but now I can't seem to get a good picture of it. I think the snow is making it appear blurry, but this was the best of all the pictures I took.   Trust me it does look a tiny bit better in real life or else I wouldn't have sent it.    There is also Dazzling Diamonds on the blue layer of snowflakes which would not seem to show up in the photo either.  The center part of the snowflakes are actually brads which I really like.  I hope you all have a great Sunday afternoon and evening.  Thanks for stopping by today.  I always love visitors.

Dogwood

I have a friend that just moved.   She lives alone and has a very small family therefore she doesn't receive too many cards so when ever I send her one she puts it up in the living room, so I thought it would be a good idea to match the colors of her room.  I used SU! So Safron and Cherry Cobbler which matches just about perfectly.
First off let me assure you that I have not been drinking this morning, I just can't take a straight picture, I guess.  LOL  I used Gina K's Dogwood stamp and colored it with Copics. It is backed up with a SB circle die and a Cherry Lynn doily die.    The paper is retired from SU . I thought it looked all right without a sentiment so I just wrote a note inside wishing her the best of luck in her new home.  I'm heading over there now to help put things away so I'm keeping this post short and I hope to get around to visit tonight or tomorrow morning.  Thanks for taking a peek into my little corner of the world.  Appreciated very much.

Happy Father's Day

I got around to making one Father's Day card for my son today.  Now I have to make one for Hubby but knowing me it will be last minute.  Here is the card for my son.

Quite a while ago I removed most of my stamps from their wooden bases to save a ton of room and  I put them in clear cases with a sample stamping and the manufacturer's name but some of them got by me and this is one of those that slipped by so I can't tell you who the stamp is from.  What I can tell you is that I love it and really think it makes for a great masculine card.  Almost every Sunday during the summer months my son and DIL try to get to the beach to relax for a few hours and then have dinner by the ocean so I thought that this was the perfect image for his Father's Day card.  I used Very Vanilla, Basic Grey and a tiny mat of Basic Black all by SU!.  The background paper is from my stash and it was a small piece so I was able to use it up.  For the larger mat I stamped it with the Weathered background stamp by SU! (another Oldie but a Goodie) with Crumb Cake Ink.   I decided to add three gold brads to even things off.  That will do it for me today.  I thank you for paying me a visit and I wish you all a great night and rest of the week.

Masculine Birthday

Hi All, We have a couple of guys in our family with birthdays this month so I got myself back into the craft room to make them cards.  Here is one of them.

I used an old SU! stamp and some paper from my stash.  I pierced one corner and above and below the sentiment which as you can see I did in gold.  It did show up better in person than in this photo.   I wish I done it in white, but it is what it is for now.  I added a few gold stickers and used a SU border punch along the bottom and I was done.  The funny story about this card was that we were talking about deer and the birthday boy just said "I see a lot of deer around here but I've never seen a buck".  Then he opened this card and said "Hey There's my buck".  We all just got a little laugh out of that one.  Wishing you all a great day and thanks for popping in for a short visit.  I haven't been around too much lately.  I've been intensely working outside so that starting this week I can just relax outside and enjoy the yard and gardens.  I will get around to visiting on a more regular basis, I promise.

Dogwood Birthday

May seems to me a busy month for me when it comes to birthdays for family and friends.  I'd like to share this card I made last week.
My colors we blue and Cherry Cobbler and the paper was in my stash.  The image is by Gina K and I colored it with Copics, then ran a very old Creative Memories pen around the die before cutting is out with a SB die.  The Cherry Cobbler is embossed with the Lattice folder by SU! I just added two gold brads, clipped the corners and I was done. That is about all I have for today.  I have finally been able to get outside this week to work in the yard and I am enjoying our sunshine so much but tomorrow it comes to an end again with a forecast of more rain.  DARN!  Wishng you all a great day and thank you for stopping by.

Mother's Day

Hi Everyone,  No I did not fall off the face of the earth.  It's just seems that way.  I haven't been making cards at all lately until this morning.  I was helping friends pack up to move and then they stayed here with us for a few days while waiting for their "move in date".    Just no time for blogging so I apologize for not visiting anyone in the past few weeks.  I will try to get around to everyone  over the weekend.  I made a quick Mother's Day card for my MIL and thought I'd take a moment to share it with you.
I used all things from my stash, the papers, the sentiment and the flower.  I tried to punch a strip with a MS punch and my intention was to have about a 1/4 of inch in the middle of the double punching but I cut it very close as you can see and I ended up with this.  It doesn't line up but I kind of liked how it turned out anyway.  Thank goodness my MIL's eyesight is not what it used to be so hopefully she won't notice.  I'd like to wish everyone of you who are Mothers a wonderful Mother's Day.

Happy Birthday

Hello All,
I needed to make a birthday card today for a girl and she likes the colors green and brown so here it is.

I started with the green polka dot paper and took off from there. I stamped the sentiment with an old greeting from CC rubber Stamp Company and cut it out with SB labels.  The flower is also a SB die  and I added a brown circle punch and a gold gem in the center of the flower. I used the Swiss Dot embossing folder on the larger die and the heart embossing folder is by Darice.  Pretty CAS but I think she will like it, at least I hope so.
Wishing you all a good evening and thanks a bunch for stopping by.

Easter Bunny

I made this card with a VERY old stamp by Ann-ticipations.  It was made in 2001.  Wow I've been doing this card making thing for that many years!!!!!  Seems like yesterday I started.  Anyway
I've always loved this bunny because he looks like he is wishing and hoping he gets some "peeps" or some other goodies for Easter.
He is so cute no one could refuse him anything he wished for.  He was colored with Copics and cut out with SB dies.  The paper was from my stash and the Sentiment is from SU!.  I punched the corners of the designer paper and rounded the corners of the card stock.  I can't figure out if those to corner treatments go OK together, but they are done now so I guess I say they are OK.  I wish you all a great weekend and for those of you who celebrate Easter, have a happy healthy one.  I might be MIA for the rest of the weekend.  Thank you for your visit today and always.

Happy Easter

I thought I'd do a quick post to share an Easter Card I made for a family member.
The tulip embossing is by SU! and the stamps are both very old but they are by Inkadinkado.  For the sentiment I colored the stamp with SU! markers prior to my stamping on the paper.  The little chicks we colored with Copics.  A quick and easy card.  That's it for me today.  I'll try to post again soon.
Off to buy groceries for the Easter dinner now.  Be back soon to visit blogs.  Thanks for taking a minute to pop in.

Merry Christmas

I'd like to share a card I made for next Christmas.  I'm so proud of myself, I've got about 8 cards made already.  I'm doing much better  than any other year.
This card is made with all retired SU! items: paper, card stock and punches.  The gems were in my stash.   Seeing as how it was still very cold here today I got into the Holiday mode again.  Wednesday it is going to be 50°.  Hopefully I can get some spring cards made then.  We'll see.  Have a great night and thanks for visiting.

W2CB My Heart's Devotion

Happy Valentine's Day to you all.  I do hope you've all had a nice weekend.  Our is very nice but bitterly cold.  -9° this morning with a wind chill of -35°.  Needless to say we stayed in all day long.
I'd like to share a card I made for the  Words To Craft By challenge, which is My Heart's Devotion.   This one could go in several different directions.  I kind of went down the middle of the road.  It could by meant for love and it could just mean that someone warms your heart.

This is another super CAS one from me.  I just used some paper that was in my stash that is actually an autumn paper (if you look close you can  just barely see leaves on there).  I thought the shades were beautiful.  I stamped my sentiment with a stamp from Stampabilities and added a MS border punched strip.  This was one of those five minute cards that hopefully says what someone needs to hear.  I wish you all a great night and upcoming week.  Thank you for your visit.

Happy Anniversary

Good Morning, I made and Anniversary card for my son and daughter-in-law so I thought I would share it with you.

I used a House Mouse Stamp that I just love and colored it with Copics.  The sentiment and punches are all from SU! The hearts along the right hand side are negatives from a MS border punch. The paper was from my stash but I think it was by SU! also.  I just dotted that background because I felt like it needed a little something.  I am wishing you all a fabulous day.  Thanks for stopping by.

Seasons Greetings

Trying to keep to my goal of doing Christmas cards a few times a week.  I bought this stamp a while ago and never inked it up.  I finally did and found it took me forever to get it colored.  So I finally got it finished and couldn't think of how I wanted to present it so I went  CAS. Just added punched corners.
You know those snowflakes are there for a reason, don't you?  After all that time I spent coloring this one, I could not let a tiny smudge allow me to throw it away, thus the snowflakes.  After seeing it in print, I think I have to add some more color to my green ornaments.   Wishing you all a great day.  If you are a football fan, have fun watching the game.  I probably won't be watching the game but will make some game day snacks anyway.    Thanks for paying me a visit.  See you soon.

A Valentine's Elephant

Happy Friday everyone.  I managed to get a little bit of craft time in between shoveling off the little back deck this morning.  The snow is so very heavy we have to keep doing it when it is only about 2 inches deep.  Hubby even had trouble with the tractor/snowblower because of the weight of the snow.  Anyway my grand daughter loves elephants and I remembered this darling image from Deedee Anderson so I printed it off and went from there.
This is a total non-traditional Valentine's Day card, but I'm hoping my grand daughter will like it.  I used Deedee's pre-colored image and she had a yellow bow around the elephant's trunk so I added a little yellow gem on the bow and added a few more gems to match.  I just sponged yellow around the die and also ran a black pen around the edge.  I matted it onto a grey oval.  The paper was in my stash and the die cut sentiment is by Provo Craft.  I'm pretty sure this will probably be the only yellow and grey Valentine's card you will see this year.  Well wishing you a very nice weekend and thank you for stopping by.

Warm Winter Wishes

Hello All, I made this card last week just before we got our little snow storm but forgot to post it.
A non-card maker asked me if you could really make a good card with no layers on it so I set out to make a card to show her.   I wanted to make a CAS but sweet card so I went to my file with Deedee Anderson's images in it.    Here is what I ended up with.

I know it is very simple looking but I did want to do a card with no paper on it at all.  This is the second one I've done in a couple of weeks now and I'm getting to like them.  I printed both the image and sentiment by Deedee on Gina K Designs 120# paper so my Ccopics would not show through to the other side.  Then I embossing a portion of the card with a snowflake folder by Darice, chomped one top corner and I was done. It is certainly not the most exciting card, but I'm happy with it.  Glad to have you visit.  Enjoy the upcoming week.

Happy Bird Day

Good Saturday Morning,
I have a birthday card to share with you.  This is the perfect type cards for the recipient's personality.

I used a pre-colored image from Deedee's Images which sadly has closed her shop but that won't ever stop me from using her images.  I just printed the image and then did some piercing around edges and in the corners as you can see.  The sentiment was computer generated and cut out with a SB die.  I added some gold pen around the inside of the die and two gold brads on the ends.  The background paper was in my stash.  Now that I look at this I think I might add some snow to the hat seeing as how it is for a February birthday.  I think it was originally for Valentine's day but seeing as how we love the person we are sending this to (our youngest) the heart in the bird's mouth is appropriate.
Thanks for paying a visit today.  Hope your weekend goes smoothly.

Baby Girl

Here is a quick look at this card I just made a a friend's granddaughter that was just born this weekend during the height of the snow storm.

I start with the designer paper and took off from there.  The border punch is by MS and I punched it in two colors and inserted the negatives.  The image is by House Mouse and lightly colored with Copics.  Cut out with SB dies.  The sentiment is from an old SU! set and after stamping it I added some dots around it to help it stand out more.  Thanks a bunch for stopping by.  Have a great day.

Christmas Penguin

I would like to share a card I made for a, new to me challenge, calledRudolph Days January 2016.  I'm hoping to be able to keep up with these challenges so that I may get my Christmas cards done in a timely manner this year and not be scrambling the last minute like in most years past.   I dug way back into my closets and used everything that was old and neglected for quite a while.
All my card stock and the designer paper are from SU! The embossing folder is by Sizzix and the dies are all by SB.  The stamp is one I've had forever but not used nearly enough.  It is by Craft Smart and I think he is as cute as a button.   I thought long and hard about what this little penquin's Santa had should be like.  Should I stamp it in red? Should I maybe paper piece it?  Then I just figured this little cutie would want everything on him to match so we went with black.  It's hard to tell in the photo but there is Dazzling Diamonds on the brim and pom pom of his hat.  Actually I think that is not a pompom but a bell, but it got "dazzled" anyway.   Just  a few touches of color with Copics and a gold outline of the die.  I tried hard to outline the sentiment die with gold also, but I only had the thicker Sharpie and it was overpowering.  I thank you for taking time out of your day to stop in for a visit.  Enjoy your week.

Blue & Gold Birthday

Good Sunday morning all.  I hope everyone is doing all right and those of you in the path of the snow storm are not totally snowed in.  I wanted to share a card I made for a person that likes blue and gold colors.
I used some long retired paper by SU! and also a retired stamp.  I gold embossed the sentiment and then drew a line around the SB die with a gold Sharpie pen before cutting it out. Rounded corners, a MS punch and few sequins and I was done.  Thanks a bunch for stopping by today.  Enjoy your day.

W2CB New Beginnings

I'm here to share a card that I made for Words 2 Craft by Challenge.  They are looking for a card or project that represents a new beginning.  I made a card reflecting a new friendship (snowman and bird) - LOL),   We got a few inches of snow the other day and are slated for a good sized snow storm this weekend so my mind went to snowmen.

The image is titled Bring It On Snowman by The Stamping Boutique.   I haven't colored an image in months so I'm quite rusty.  I added the Frantage  to cover up some booboos.  the paper is retired SU! and the sentiment was made using two different stamps from an older SU! set.  I punched out the circles and used a SB scalloped die for the last circle. The sky is sponged with Bashful Blue by SU.   I imagine I will look something like this snowman this coming weekend, shovel in hand and covered with falling snow.  As long as I don't have to drive in it I'm fine.  Thank you for dropping in on me today.  Have a great evening.

Masculine Birthday

I thought I'd share with you a card I made for a friend of ours.  This was a real CAS easy to get done type card.
I used this image from Stitchy Bear  image titled "In The Harbor".  I just added a bit of color to the sand and the sky and mounted it on Chocolate Brown with a blue back ground embossed with a Diamond Plate Folder.   Wishing you all a great day and thanks for stopping by.

One Are One Of A Kind

Hi All,  I'm here today to share a card I made for a teenage girl.  She is just 14 years old and every school day her mother gives her a note in her lunch.  She has been saving these notes for all these years and for Christmas she made her mother a scrap book with all these notes just to show her that she kept them and how much they meant to her.  I was so impressed with her for doing this.  Mind you she never made a scrap book before so she came over here and I let her look through all my stuff.  She picked out some papers and dies to back up the notes with.  She went home with gems, pearl pens, glue, flowers, die cuts, punches, brads, etc. and made her book all on her own.  Her mom was in heaven when she received this precious gift.  Mom brought the scrapbook back over to show me what a fabulous job she did.    I was so proud of her so I had to make her a card to let her know.
I have to apologize for the dark picture.  My OOT light just died and this was the best I could get without it.   My sentiment stamp is an older one by Ann-ticipations.  I've had it for quite a few years. This is SU! retired paper and the card stock is Rich Razzleberry even thought it does not look like it in this photo.  The diamond die is by by Die-namics and the gems and sequins were in my stash.  Well that's it for me today.  Thanks so much for popping in for a visit.  See you again soon.

Anniversary Card

Hello  Everyone and Happy New Year.   I have not dropped off the end of the earth like I'm sure most of you thought, but I've been tied up with knitting hats and scarves to donate and haven't made a card since November.  I needed to make an anniversary card for someone and I sat down at the desk and took a while before I could even get my thoughts in gear.  But I finally did and as usual for me I took the CAS route because I like that style and the recipients of this card are also CAS type of people.

I used some pretty paper I found in my stash and I have no idea who it is by but I love it.  I used a very old stamp and colored it with SU! markers in brown and red.  I cut it out with a SB die and also matted it on a circle SB die.  I added a two layer felt flower with a plastic flower in the center.  I rounded two corners and it was finished.  I did  not want to stress my brain too much on my first trip back to the craft desk.  LOL  Well that will have to do it for me for tonight, but I do hope to get back into a card making routine some day very soon.  Thanks so much for stopping in, I truly appreciate the company.
